What is the pattern of the 100 most influential discoveries and inventions during the past 2,400 years that has produced the scientific method, computers, digital information, social media, mass media, and the new humanism?

Note: The 100 most influential scientists in history are listed in the century they died, with the exception of several who are still alive and who are listed as still being alive in the 21st century.

The 97 blue avatars represent the 97 most influential male scientists and the 3 pink avatars represent the 3 most influential female scientists.

In addition, 27 orange avatars will represent the 27 most influential alternative scientists who could have been included on the list of the 100 most influential scientists in history, depending upon a few notable criteria.

There were many more important inventions in previous centures as well as new inventions in the 21st century that need to be understood. Publication data about the following three recent books, The Innovators, Big Science, and Fifty Inventions that Shaped the Modern Economy, are in the following information box. More details about the contents of each of the books will soon be linked online:

THE INNOVATORS:
How a group of hackers, geniuses,
and geeks created the digital revolution

by Walter Isaacson.
Simon & Schuster, 2014 (560 pages)

AND

BIG SCIENCE:
Ernest Lawrence and the Invention
that Launched the Military-Industrial Complex

by Michael A. Hiltzik.
Simon & Schuster, 2015 (528 pages)

AND

FIFTY INVENTIONS THAT
SHAPED THE MODERN ECONOMY

by Tim Harford,
Riverhead Books, 2017 (321 pages)

The new important scientific discoveries and inventions are all based on the creative thinking of the 100 most influential scientists in the history of the Western world.

They provided the essential scientific experimental procedures and technical tools that were used to begin the study of the human brain and human behavior from the end of the 19th century, and throughout the 20th century, and into the 21st century.

Contemporary scientific achievements will be described in another science timeline on the Alphabetical Brain Vocabulary App, which will be available online soon.
