ALPHABETICAL BRAIN™ VOCABULARY
YOUR CONNECTOME #9
October 29, 2019
WHAT IS YOUR CONNECTOME?
AND WHY IS IT SO IMPORTANT?
The purpose of your connectome is to make possible the transmission of biochemical current (ionic signals and impulses) all around your brain and also up and down your body.
The word connectome describes the biological structure of the 3-D communication network. It connects your brain to your nervous system. The discovery of this massive communication process, which connects all of your body's organs through neuronal pathways, definitively proves that your brain controls all of the movements of the rest of your body.
Also, the complexity of your connectome network structures makes possible your brain's plasticity process, which gives your mind the power to reason, imagine, and remember.
The billions of neuronal pathways that connect your 100-200 billion neurons and 1,000 trillion synapses, whether polarized, depolarized, or re-polarized in the zillions of molecules of your body, make possible the quintessential ability of your mind's mental functions, especially those that facilitate your brain's ability to change itself by itself!
Therefore, the functional interactions between the biological structure of your body's connectome and the psychological process of your mind's mental functions give you the brain power to be a creative person.
You have the willpower to make choices among infinite options anytime you decide what goals you want to achieve.
Historically, your biochemical connectome network was simply called your brain and brainstem and spinal cord. There was never a detailed explanation of how your brain and body were actually connected to communicate at the extremely tiny molecular level of quantum effects.
Now, however, the nano-microscopic functions of your biochemical current are understood well enough by brain scientists and science journalists that they can educate all of us with clear descriptions of those brain functions.
Now we can learn about our own brain structures and mental functions and use the new practical knowledge to better cope with the daily challenges of existence and the lifelong quest for increased love, knowledge, and wisdom.
In addition, the smaller connectome circuits within the larger connectome network have a variety of specialized functions that make possible an infinite number of connections among your 100-200 billion neurons and 1,000 trillion synapses.
The smaller cortical circuits and the huge neuronal connectome circuits can activate a vast number of diverse movements, which you are capable of performing either consciously or unconsciously.
When you increase your vocabulary and expand your self-identity, you can build the brainpower to make your own decisions and choose your own behavior. Since we live in the most technically sophisticated civilization ever, your choices are limited only by your own personal knowledge and curiosity to learn.
RECOMMENDATION: You can re-read this summary according to a reinforcement schedule, such as a few hours later and a few days later and then several times in the next week or two. This strategy can help you take advantage of the power of the spaced-repetition method of memorization. Such deep introspection can change your adaptive self-identity and increase your self-esteem (positive emotions about yourself).
You are your adaptable memory!
