ALPHABETICAL BRAIN® VOCABULARY
HUMANIST FAMILY BRAIN STUDY
DETAILS ABOUT THE CIRCLE
OF CONSCIOUSNESS SYMBOL®
August 28, 2022
TECHNICAL NOTE
The Circle of Consciousness Symbol© is a visual learning device that allows you to focus attention on the big picture of the logical progressive sequence of all 15 brain-ideas simultaneously. It also allows you to easily memorize the names of the 15 brain-ideas by associating them with "memory codes." They are short acronyms containing semantic cues in their letter combinations.
CIRCLE OF CONSCIOUSNESS SYMBOL®
The Circle of Consciousness Symbol© shows how the relationship between your working (short-term) memory system located in your prefrontal cortex and your long-term memory consolidation system located in your hippocampus produces your natural willpower and your creative imagination which together provide your adaptable self-identity (sense-of-self or secular-self or self).
The entire Alphabetical Brain® Vocabulary website is a logical argument for changing your thoughts and feelings about your brainpower to the point where you can overcome any limitations in your thinking.
The structure of the Circle of Consciousness Symbol© provides a simple accurate model for explaining how your complex human brain works. It reveals that your natural willpower and creative imagination both depend upon you having 15 healthy physical structures and 15 healthy mental functions in order to produce your human consciousness.
You need to remember these 15 dynamic interactive ideas in your long-term memory consolidation system: forever!
The four diagrams in the following two sets of paired diagrams displayed below with the Circle of Consciousness Symbol© are presented in flash card format at the "15 Free Brain Flash Cards" link on this website's Homepage Index:
FLASH CARD SET 1
Diagram #1 (which is the front of a flash card) shows 15 red arrows outside the circle, all pointing outward toward the names of each of the 15 brain-ideas. This first diagram depicts the assumption that the names of the 15 brain-ideas and their unique sequence of interactive relationships are outside your conscious self-awareness before you begin to study your brain seriously.
Diagram #2 (which is the back side of Diagram #1) shows 15 red arrows inside the circle, all pointing inward toward the smaller center circle called "MENTAL FORCE."
The words "mental force" describe the idea that your mind's mental functions are based on your natural willpower, your creative imagination, and your logical ability to imagine, reason, and remember.
The names of the functions identify the humanistic secular source of your capacity to make adaptable choices and decisions. They are caused by two clusters of neurons at the front of your "cerebrum" which is known collectively as your prefrontal cortex (plural = "prefrontal cortices") or PFC.
Together, your prefrontal cortices are known as your "executive function." It is the ultimate cause of your common-sense logical choices and rational decisions. If you were taught by your parents or teachers to develop your "critical thinking skills" as you were learning about science when you were young, you would be skilled at using your executive function as an adult.
The source of your executive function is located at the fronts of both "frontal lobes" on both sides of your divided "cerebral hemispheres". They are about one inch behind your forehead on both sides of your face.
Your executive function manages your WORKING VISUAL MEMORY . It was previously called your "Short-Term Memory" before the full modern nano-microscopic cellular understanding of it was known. Also it is now known that it must be connected to your LONG-TERM MEMORY consolidation system by healthy neuronal wiring to work right and cause your conscious self-awareness and consciousness.
The second diagram depicts the assumption that the names of the 15 brain-ideas and their unique sequence of interactive relationships will be inside your permanent LONG-TERM MEMORY consolidation system after you have spent serious time studying your brain's structures and your mind's mental functions.
The new brain vocabulary explains scientifically how your mind's mental functions or "mental forces" work. This new brain knowledge can strengthen your natural willpower and your creative imagination when you take advantage of your brain's neuroplasticity to adjust your adaptable self-identity ("sense-of-self" or "secular-self" or "self"). when necessary. Your "self", which is your "self-identity", is also your "mind"! By putting all these words in a humanistic context, you can instantly realize how practical this lexicon can make your thinking about the difference between your brain and your mind.
In addition, the names and the meanings of the 15 brain-ideas can provide you with a comprehensive logical pattern of knowledge about your brain. All 15 names are defined and described from several perspectives on this website. Links to the major files are on this website's Homepage Index, especially the file called 15 Free Brain Flash Cards.
FLASH CARD SET 2
The second set of paired flash cards, (Diagram #3 and Diagram #4), is linked so you can repeatedly stimulate the semantic, episodic, and autobiographic memory cells, which are the declarative memory triggers or "indexed sections" in your hippocampus.
This is where your long-term memory consolidation system is located.
Diagram #3 shows the position of the 15 memory codes around the Circle of Consciousness Symbol©.
Diagram #4 shows the 15 names of the brain ideas in their unique sequence around the circle.
The two diagrams make it possible for you to MATCH the 15 memory codes to the 15 names of the brain ideas in their special order of brain structures and mental functions.
By simply TAPPING or SWIPING your finger on the screen or CLICKING your mouse, you can have repeated quick viewings no matter what kind of hand-held device or computer you are using.
These two diagrams provide you with the opportunity to use your cerebrum's prefrontal cortex or PFC to train the rest of your brain to learn the letters of the memory codes in the logical order displayed around the Circle of Consciousness Symbol©.
By repeatedly paying attention to the 15 names of the 15 brain-ideas and the 15 memory codes, you will be causing more synaptic connections to be created in the neuronal pathways on both of your anterior cingulate cortices.
Both of these neuronal pathways connect your working (short-term) memory system to your long-term memory consolidation system because of the biochemical signals which flow through them and cause "memory triggers" to become activated in the "memory index" that exists in those clusters of neurons inside your hippocampus.
Each time you remember these particular 15 brain-ideas, which symbolize your brain's physical structures and your mind's mental functions, you will be strengthening the "density" of the 1,000 trillion synapses (neuronal switches) among the 100-200 billion neurons in your "connectome," which is the vast "wiring system" inside your brain which attaches to your body's nervous system.
Finally, by using the four diagrams of the Circle of Consciousness Symbol© along with the 15 brain flash cards and the spaced-repetition method of memorization, you will be able to save time as you train your brain to optimize your mind's magnificent mental functions so they will do what you want them to do.
RECOMMENDATION: You may print this text version and read it and edit it by adding or deleting ideas. Also you can underline or highlight with colored inks or read it out loud to use these proven memory boosters to help you capture this brain information in your relatively permanent long-term memory consolidation system.
Then, you can read your edited version of these ideas according to a reinforcement schedule; such as in a few hours and then in a few days and then several times in the next week or so to take advantage of the power of the flash card technique and the spaced-repetition method of memorization when you study the 15 brain-ideas and their dynamic interactions.
Such deeper introspection can motivate you to increase your natural willpower and to achieve self-actualization and self-transcendence by changing your adaptable self-identity to make successful plans to achieve your goals.
This self-directed learning process can help you meet your own personal needs and activate the parts of your brain known as your "emotional brain" and your "social brain." In a secular humanistic context, they contribute to your appreciation for progressive scientific and democratic values and your ability to predict your future.
That is what is required to become a "fully-functioning person," which is a phrase originated by the humanist psychologist Carl Rogers whose work has had an exceptional influence on modern American public education and psychotherapy during the past century. This non-directive method of teaching and also psychotherapy depends on teachers and therapists asking "open-ended" questions. And then, teachers or therapists listen carefully to draw information out of students or patients own self-awareness. It was most effective for the American middle-income class of individuals in the mid-1900s and later who sought success through gaining knowledge by applying life-long learning habits.
This kind of teaching and therapy works best for people who are in touch with their deepest and innermost feelings and desires. They are individuals who want to understand their own emotions and learn more about trusting their own instincts and personal knowledge.
